These are on the 210 last, which seems to be only be used for a handful of models. I'm finding them to work perfect with blue pants/jean, but I thinking I'll be alright to wear these with pretty much any pant. Sometimes it looks like a really nice, rich tan color, sometimes it gets an green tinge and then other times it has a distinct olive look to it. The color appears quite different under different lighting. It's a bit longer/rougher than a fine suede, but they still maintain a fairly smart look to them. The nap is even in both color and texture. These are made with Red Wings Olive Mohave leather, which is a full-grain rough-out leather made by Red Wing's own S.B. I may replace them with brown round cotton laces at some point, think it might take away from the workwear vibe a bit. The laces are just green-tinged taslan laces. Nonetheless, it'll be a while.Įyelets: These just have 5 blind eyelets and I think it suits this style well. I was thinking a stacked leather heel with Dainite would look nice and "class" these up a bit, but I might go with a Christy or something similar. I'm hoping to keep these for a long time, and I have no idea what I'll have these resoled with when the time comes. It's comfy and light and get's filthy just as easily. Sole: These are on Red Wings Atlas Tread outsole, which looks like the Vibram Christy in profile. I own some Vibergs, Whites, and Aldens, and somehow, the quality of all of the Red Wing Shoes I've owned seem to be on par with pretty much any other maker that I've handled - I think they're definitely one of the best values in the game. I couldn't find any notable flaws with either shoe.Įvery time I buy a pair of Red Wings, I'm impressed. Definitely better than some of my higher-end shoes. No major stitching inconsistencies, really clean and even welt stitching, one shoe has an amazing welt-joint seam and the other is pretty good. Plus, they had my size in stock so it was basically fate. They're currently having a sale of around 40% off just about everything, which brought these shoes down to $156, and I just couldn't turn them down at that price. A local shop ( Asher Goods) has been stocking these for months and they seem to have been moving very slowly. This summer, I've been stricken with love for plain toe derbies/bluchers. Last summer was all about handsewns for me.
